Chapter 40

The Battle of Baba Jujhaar Singh Ji

Note: The name of the Sahibzada was tradionally documented as Baba Zoraawar Singh.

Seeing the Singhs fight, Baba Ajit Singh Ji, the elder prince of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, now asks Maharaj to bless him with permission for entering the battlefield. Baba Ji says that there is no higher honour that fighting for righteousness and Maharaj, seeing the heartfelt decision of their son, blesses Baba Ji to go on and fight. Following suit, Bhai Aalam Singh Ji(the personal attendant of Maharaj), Bhai Javahar Singh Ji, and Bhai Dhiaan Singh Ji all enter the battle one by one. Then, Bhai Sukha Singh enters the battlefield with his musket but with no pellets[or bullets] or gunpowder--he is fighting with the miracle of the Guru. Later, Bhai Bir Singh Ji also joins the battle and fights with great bravery and valor. On the other end, Baba Ajit Singh Ji has exhausted all his weapons and makes his way towards the enemy general, Anwar Khan. Once he reaches, he pulls his kataar from his waist belt and pierces the stomach of the enemy general and disappears from sight. The Singhs within the fortress know that the elder prince of Maharaj has now left for their heavenly abode, and seeing this, Baba Jujhar Singh finds inspiration to fight and wants to follow in the footsteps of his older brother.
