Chapter 1

Manglacharan | Origin Story of Raja Maan Singh

As Kavi Santokh Singh Ji begins writing the twelfth Raas of the Gurpartap Suraj Granth, he invokes the support of the Eternal, the Goddess of Knowledge, and the ten Gurus through poetic salutations.

In the beginning, Kavi Ji tells the story of Raja Maan Singh fighting to take over the land of Kamarupa under the guidance of the selfish-minded emperor of the time, Akbar. This chapter holds importance not only because of the key background given to why Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Ji travelled to the mystic land of Kamarupa, but also the seriousness of the power held by the people of such land.

As Raja Maan Singh sets off on his voyage to Kamarupa, he is met with a beautiful figure of a woman on a lone boat. As he gets closer to the figure and makes contact, the rest of the army sees the king lose his mind and go mentally insane.

Having a first taste of the dark magic of these lands, will Raja Maan Singh survive?
