ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਰਬਾਬੀ ਰਸ ਕਰੈਂ ਰਾਗ ਅਨੇਕ ਸੁਨਾਇ ॥੧॥

ਸਿਖ ਸੁਨਹਿਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਉਪਜਾਏ ।

ਤਨ ਮਾਨੁਖ ਕਰਿ ਸਫਲਾਏ ।

tan maanukh kar safalaae

As the Sikhs listen, love wells up within them, rendering their very being purposeful and fulfilled.

ਨਰ ਬਡੀ ਪ੍ਰਾਤਿ ਸਭਿ ਜਾਗੇ ।

nar baddee praat sabh jaage

ਲਘੁ ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਬਾਜਨਿ ਲਾਗੇ ॥੨॥

Come dawn, everyone rises, roused by the resonating beats of the drums. ||2||

ਧੁਨਿ ਨੌਬਤਿ ਕੀ ਮਨ ਭਾਈ ।

dhun nauabat kee man bhaaee

ਨਰ ਨਾਰਿ ਅਨਂਦ ਉਪਜਾਈ ।

nar naar anand upajaaee

The rhythm of the drums resonates pleasingly, evoking joy within both men and women.

ਪੁਨ ਬਜੇ ਸਰਬ ਹੀ ਬਾਜੇ ।

pun baje sarab hee baaje

ਜਿਨ ਉਠਹੀ ਉੱਚ ਆਵਾਜੇ ॥੩॥

jin utthahee uch aavaaje ||3||

Subsequently, all instruments join in harmony, amplifying a grand and resonant chorus. ||3||

ਗੁਰ ਉਠਿ ਕਰਿ ਸੌਚ ਸ਼ਨਾਨੇ ।

gur utth kar sauach shanaane

ਸ਼ੁਭ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਪਹਿਰਬੋ ਠਾਨੇ ।

shubh basatr pahirabo tthaane

The Guru rises, bathes, and adorns himself in pristine attire.

ਉਸ਼ਨੀਕ ਨੀਕ ਸਿਰ ਸੋਹੀ ।

aushaneek neek sir sohee

ਬਂਧਿ ਜਿਗਾ ਜਰਾਵ ਜਰੋਹੀ ॥੪॥

bandh jigaa jaraav jarohee ||4||

He graces his head with a finely-tied dastaar, and secures a jiggah – a tiara-like ornament studded with exquisite gems. ||4||

ਧਰਿ ਕਲਗ਼ੀ ਤੁੰਗ ਬਿਰਾਜੀ ।

dhar kalagee tung biraajee

ਮੁਕਤਾਨ ਸੰਗ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਸਾਜੀ ।

mukataan sang shubh saajee

The Guru elegantly places a towering kalgi on his turban, at its base is a radiant cluster of pearls.

ਗਰ ਮੋਤਿਨਿ ਮਾਲ ਬਿਸ਼ਾਲਾ ।

gar motin maal bishaalaa

ਬਿਚ ਹੀਰੇ ਜਰੇ ਉਜਾਲਾ ॥੫॥

bich heere jare ujaalaa ||5||

Around his neck, he dons a magnificent necklace of large pearls, interspersed with glistening diamonds that enhance its luminance. ||5||

ਨਵਰਤਨੇ ਅੰਗਦ ਪਾਏ ।

navaratane angad paae

ਜਨੁ ਨਵ ਗ੍ਰੈਹ ਭੁਜ ਲਪਟਾਏ ।

jan nav graih bhuj lapattaae

Adorning his limbs are angad-s embellished with the nine jewels, evoking imagery of the nine celestial bodies embracing his arms.

ਪੁਨ ਗਰੇ ਭਗਉਤੀ ਪਾਈ ।

pun gare bhgautee paaee

ਨਰ ਚਾਮਰ ਚਾਰੁ ਢੁਲਾਈ ॥੬॥

nar chaamar chaar dtulaaee ||6||

Next, around his neck, he places the revered ਭਗਉਤੀ (bhagautī, sword) while a devoted Sikh attentively waves a chaur (whisk) over him. ||6||

ਬਡ ਫਰਸ਼ ਮਖ਼ਮਲੀ ਹੋਵਾ ।

badd farash makhamalee hovaa

ਬਰ ਝਾਲਰ ਜ਼ਰੀ ਚੰਦੋਵਾ ।

bar jhaalar zaree chandovaa

Within the congregation, a plush velvet carpet unfurls for all, accompanied by a canopy intricately embroidered with fine gold and silver thread.

ਲੇ ਦੰਡ ਰਜਤ ਅਰੁ ਸੋਨੇ ।

le dandd rajat ar sone

ਗਨ ਚੋਬਦਾਰ ਥਿਤਿ ਕੋਨੇ ॥੭॥

Numerous guards stand vigilant at the congregation's corners, brandishing staffs adorned with gold and silver. ||7||

ਤਬਿ ਮਾਤੁਲ ਆਇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਲਾ ।

tab maatul aae kripaalaa

ਸਜਿ ਬਸਤ੍ਰਨਿ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਬਿਸਾਲਾ ।

Subsequently, Guru's uncle, Mama Kripal Chand, graces the scene, elegantly attired and armed with formidable weapons.

ਬਡ ਬੀਰ ਪੰਚ ਜੇ ਬੀਰੰ ।

ਜਨੁ ਪਾਂਡਵ ਦੇਹਿ ਸ਼ਰੀਰੰ ॥੮॥

Accompanied by the great warriors — the five cousins of Guru Gobind Singh — whose imposing statures resembled those of the five legendary Pandavas: (Yudhishthira, Bhima, Arjuna, Nakula, and Sahadeva, from the Mahabharata). ||8||

ਦਿਜ ਦਯਾਰਾਮ ਅਭਿਰਾਮੂ ।

dij dayaaraam abhiraamoo

ਜੁਤਿ ਰਾਮ ਕੁਇਰ ਗੁਨ ਧਾਮੂ ।

Present too is the handsome Brahmin, Dayaram, accompanied by Ram Kuir, the abode of virtue.

ਅਭਿਬੰਦਨ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਸਾਰੇ ।

abhibandan kar kar saare

ਢਿਗ ਬੈਠੇ ਪ੍ਰਭੂ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੯॥

dtig baitthe prabhoo nihaare ||9||

They all offer their reverence to the Guru, and having paid their respects, they seat themselves nearby, their gaze fixed upon Him. ||9||

ਪੁਨ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਮਸੰਦ ਬਿਲੰਦੇ ।

pun brind masand bilande

ਪਦ ਬੰਦਤਿ ਬੈਠਿ ਅਨੰਦੇ ।

pad bandat baitth anande

Next, the distinguished Masands arrive, and in a state of bliss, they prostrate at the Guru's lotus-like feet.

ਬਡ ਸਭਾ ਲਗੀ ਦਰਸਾਏ ।

badd sabhaa lagee darasaae

ਜੇ ਬਨਿਕ ਅਨਿਕ ਪੁਰਿ ਆਏ ॥੧੦॥

je banik anik pur aae ||10||

A grand assembly has taken shape, with all gathered to have the blessed vision (darshan) of the Guru. ||10||

ਕਰ ਜੋਰਿ ਅਕੋਰ ਧਰੰਤੇ ।

kar jor akor dharante

ਗੁਰ ਕਦਮ ਪਦਮ ਪਰਸੰਤੇ ।

gur kadam padam parasante

Many from the city approach with their hands clasped together, placing offerings before the Guru and reverently touching His lotus-like feet.

ਕਹਿਂ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਦੀਨ ਬਿਸਾਲਾ ।

kahin binatee deen bisaalaa

ਹਮ ਸਭਿ ਕੋ ਕੀਨਿ ਨਿਹਾਲਾ ॥੧੧॥

ham sabh ko keen nihaalaa ||11||

They humbly speak, "O Guru, of vast compassion, You uplift and bless us all. ||11||

ਜਨ ਅਪਨੇ ਜਾਨਿ ਹਕਾਰੇ ।

jan apane jaan hakaare

ਗਨ ਬਿਘਨ ਅਘਨ ਕੋ ਟਾਰੇ ।

gan bighan aghan ko ttaare

You recognize us as your own, O Master. You save us from countless obstacles and sins."

ਕਰ ਕਮਲ ਉਤੰਗ ਉਠਾਯੋ ।

kar kamal utang utthaayo

ਨਿਜ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੋ ਹਰਖਾਯੋ ॥੧੨॥

nij sangat ko harakhaayo ||12||

Guru Ji lifts His lotus-like hands and brings joy to His entire congregation. ||12||

ਸਨਮਾਨ ਮਹਾਨ ਬਖਾਨਾ ।

sanamaan mahaan bakhaanaa

ਬੈਠਾਰੇ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨਿਧਾਨਾ ।

baitthaare kripaanidhaanaa

They honour Him greatly, and the abundant giver of grace kindly asks them to sit.

ਪੁਨ ਸਭਿਹਿਨਿ ਮਿਲਿ ਕਰਿ ਭਾਖਾ ।

pun sabhihin mil kar bhaakhaa

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਕਰਹੁ ਭਿਲਾਖਾ ॥੧੩॥

gur pooran karahu bhilaakhaa ||13||

Everyone gathers and says, "O complete Guru, fulfil our desires." ||13||

ਹਮ ਅਪਨੇ ਅਪਨੇ ਪੁਰਿ ਕੇ ।

ham apane apane pur ke

ਧਨ ਇਕਠੋ ਕਰਿ ਹਿਤ ਗੁਰ ਕੇ ।

dhan ikattho kar hit gur ke

[They continue]: "From our individual villages, we've brought together funds out of love for the Guru.

ਸਭਿ ਦਈ ਚਹੈਂ ਪਹੁਨਾਈ ।

sabh dee chahain pahunaaee

ਜੋ ਸਭਿ ਬਰਾਤ ਸਮੁਦਾਈ ॥੧੪॥

jo sabh baraat samudaaee ||14||

We all wish to use this wealth to offer meals to the entire wedding party. ||14||

ਦਿਨ ਇਕ ਇਕ ਦੇਇਂ ਅਹਾਰਾ ।

din ik ik deein ahaaraa

ਚਿਤ ਇਹੀ ਮਨੋਰਥ ਧਾਰਾ ।

chit ihee manorath dhaaraa

Let each one of us provide food for one day. This is the wish we hold in our hearts."

ਬਿਨਤੀ ਜੁਤਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਬਖਾਨੀ ।

binatee jut prem bakhaanee

ਸੁਨਿ ਕਲਗ਼ੀਧਰ ਮਨ ਮਾਨੀ ॥੧੫॥

sun kalageedhar man maanee ||15||

Hearing the request spoken with such affection, the Guru, adorned with a plume, accepts in his heart. ||15||

ਸੀਰੰਦੀ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਜੋਈ ।

seerandee sangat joee

ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਥਮ ਕਰਤਿ ਭੀ ਸੋਈ ।

din pratham karat bhee soee

The congregation from Sirhand takes responsibility for the first day.

ਪੁਨ ਕੀਨਸਿ ਰੋਪਰ ਕੇਰੀ ।

pun keenas ropar keree

ਹੁਸ਼ਿਆਰਪੁਰੇ ਬਹੁਤੇਰੀ ॥੧੬॥

hushiaarapure bahuteree ||16||

Then, the congregation from Ropar takes the second day, and a large group from Hoshiarpur takes the third. ||16||

ਬਹੁ ਦਿਨ ਗੁਰ ਕੀਨਿ ਮੁਕਾਮੂ ।

bahu din gur keen mukaamoo

ਬ੍ਰਿਧ ਉਤਸਵ ਭਾ ਅਭਿਰਾਮੂ ।

bridh utasav bhaa abhiraamoo

Guru Sahib resides here for many days, and a grand celebration ensues.

ਜਿਮ ਸਜੀ ਬਰਾਤ ਸੁਹਾਈ ।

jim sajee baraat suhaaee

ਤਿਮ ਰਹੀ ਤਹਾਂ ਸਮੁਦਾਈ ॥੧੭॥

tim rahee tahaan samudaaee ||17||

Just as the wedding party dresses up beautifully, they maintain that aura and attire throughout their stay. ||17||

ਨਿਤ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਬਿਬਿਧਿ ਅਹਾਰਾ ।

nit sundar bibidh ahaaraa

ਦੇ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਾਦ ਉਦਾਰਾ ।

de sangat svaad udaaraa

Every day, there is an array of exquisite and varied food, and the city responsible serves this delicious and generous fare to the congregation.

ਗਨ ਕੌਤਕ ਕਰਨੇ ਹਾਰੇ ।

gan kauatak karane haare

ਬਹੁ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਬਰਾਤ ਨਿਹਾਰੇ ॥੧੮॥

bahu karahin baraat nihaare ||18||

Numerous performers showcase their talents, putting on dazzling spectacles for the wedding party. ||18||

ਧਨ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਸਮੁਦਾਯਾ ।

dhan praapat hvai samudaayaa

ਨਟ ਬਾਜੀਗਰ ਕੀ ਮਾਯਾ ।

natt baajeegar kee maayaa

All performers, [such as dancers, magicians, and tricksters], earn a handsome sum for their acts.

ਬਡ ਮੇਲਾ ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਹੋਵੈ ।

badd melaa din prat hovai

ਉਰ ਹਰਖਹਿਂ ਜੋ ਨਰ ਜੋਵੈਂ ॥੧੯॥

aur harakhahin jo nar jovain ||19||

Every day, there's a grand festival, and anyone who witnesses it feels immense joy in their heart. ||19||

ਹੁਇ ਤ੍ਯਾਰ ਅਹਾਰ ਹਕਾਰੇ ।

hue tayaar ahaar hakaare

ਗਨ ਬਾਦਿਤ ਬਜਤਿ ਪਧਾਰੇ ।

gan baadit bajat padhaare

As the food is prepared, the wedding guests are called, and numerous instruments sound,

ਰਮਨੀਕ ਥਾਨ ਬੈਠਾਏ ।

ramaneek thaan baitthaae

ਕਰਿ ਫਰਸ਼ ਭਲੇ ਸੁਧਰਾਏ ॥੨੦॥

kar farash bhale sudharaae ||20||

they find a picturesque spot to dine, with luxurious carpets and linens laid out for them. ||20||

ਜਲ ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਨ ਪਖਾਰੇ ।

jal le kar paan pakhaare

ਪੁਨ ਪਹੁੰਚਿ ਪਰੋਸਨਹਾਰੇ ।

pun pahunch parosanahaare

After taking their seats, they wash their hands, and then the servers come forward,

ਧਰਿ ਸਭਿਨਿ ਅਗਾਰੀ ਥਾਰਾ ।

dhar sabhin agaaree thaaraa

ਬਹੁ ਸ੍ਵਾਦਲ ਪਾਇ ਅਹਾਰਾ ॥੨੧॥

bahu svaadal paae ahaaraa ||21||

placing plates in front of everyone, where they relish the delectable dishes. ||21||

ਜੇ ਸਪਤ ਬਿਧਿਨਿ ਪਕਵਾਨਾ ।

je sapat bidhin pakavaanaa

ਬਿਚ ਮੇਵੇ ਮਿਲੇ ਮਹਾਨਾ ।

The cooks prepare the seven types of delights¹ which are incorporated with luxurious fruits. ¹(According to Kahan Singh Nabha's Mahan Kosh Encyclopedia, these are Ladu, Jalebi, Barfi, Balushahi, Mathhi, Nugadi, and Shakarpaara)

ਦਧਿ ਸਾਥ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਮਸਾਲੇ ।

dadh saath bisaal masaale

ਗਨ ਬਰੇ ਪਕੌਰੇ ਡਾਲੇ ॥੨੨॥

gan bare pakauare ddaale ||22||

Accompanying the feast is yogurt infused with an abundance of spices, and they also mix in an array of pakoras. ||22||

ਸਭਿ ਅਚਵਤਿ ਸ੍ਵਾਦ ਸਰਾਹੈਂ ।

sabh achavat svaad saraahain

ਪੁਨ ਸੂਖਮ ਚਾਵਰ ਚਾਹੈਂ ।

pun sookham chaavar chaahain

Everyone savoured the delightful food, expressing their admiration.

ਜੁਗ ਰੀਤਿਨਿ ਕੇ ਤਬਿ ਲ੍ਯਾਏ ।

jug reetin ke tab layaae

ਇਕ ਮਧੁਰ ਸਲਵਨ ਮਿਲਾਏ ॥੨੩॥

eik madhur salavan milaae ||23||

Adhering to age-old customs, the servers then presented two varieties of refined rice dishes: one sweetened and the other savoury with salt. ||23||

ਬਹੁ ਸਾਵਗ ਗਰੀ ਬਿਸਾਲੇ ।

ਗਨ ਚਤੁਰਨ ਕਰਿ ਬਿਚ ਡਾਲੇ ।

gan chaturan kar bich ddaale

Everyone enjoys the delicious food, praising its flavours, and then there's a desire for the delicate rice dishes.

ਖਟ ਰਸ ਕੋ ਅਚਵਤਿ ਸਾਰੇ ।

khatt ras ko achavat saare

ਗੁਰ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਕਰਤਿ ਉਦਾਰੇ ॥੨੪॥

gur keerat karat udaare ||24||

Served according to ancient customs, they are presented with one sweet rice and another seasoned with salt. ||24||

ਬਹੁ ਮਿਲੀ ਨਾਗਰੀ ਨਾਰੀ ।

bahu milee naagaree naaree

ਤਨ ਭੂਖਨ ਬਸਨ ਸ਼ਿੰਗਾਰੀ ।

tan bhookhan basan shingaaree

Women from the city gather, dressed in elegant clothes adorned with jewelry and ornaments.

ਕਲ ਕੋਕਿਲ ਕੰਠੀ ਗਾਵੈਂ ।

kal kokil kantthee gaavain

ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਖੰਜਨ ਅੰਜ ਨਚਾਵੈਂ ॥੨੫॥

drig khanjan anj nachaavain ||25||

Their voices, melodious like the nightingales, as they sing and their beautiful, enticing eyes, reminiscent of wagtail birds, dance flirtatiously. ||25||

ਨਰ ਜੇ ਬਰਾਤਿ ਅਭਿਰਾਮੂ ।

nar je baraat abhiraamoo

ਦੇਂ ਗਾਰੀ ਲੇ ਕਰਿ ਨਾਮੂ ।

den gaaree le kar naamoo

The women playfully single out any handsome man from the baraat, calling out his name and teasingly swearing at him.

ਸਭਿ ਰਿਦੈ ਅਨੰਦ ਵਧਾਵੈਂ ।

sabh ridai anand vadhaavain

ਹੈਂ ਗਾਰਿ ਤਊ ਮਨ ਭਾਵੈਂ ॥੨੬॥

hain gaar taoo man bhaavain ||26||

This brings joy to everyone's heart; even though it's just a playful jest, it delights everyone. ||26||

ਰਸ ਰੰਗ ਸਮੈ ਤਿਸ ਹੋਵੈ ।

ras rang samai tis hovai

ਮੁਦ ਧਰਤਿ ਪਰਸਪਰ ਜੋਵੈਂ ।

mud dharat parasapar jovain

It's a time of flavour and colour, everyone basks in collective happiness and joy.

ਅਚਿ ਸਨੇ ਸਨੇ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਅਸਨਾ ।

ach sane sane shubh asanaa

ਮੁਸਕਾਇਂ ਦਿਪੈ ਦੁਤਿ ਦਸਨਾ ॥੨੭॥

musakaaein dipai dut dasanaa ||27||

They savour their meals leisurely, and the attendants laugh and enjoy themselves thoroughly. ||27||

ਮਨ ਸਭਿ ਕੇ ਤਬਿ ਬਿਰਮਾਵੈਂ ।

man sabh ke tab biramaavain

ਨਹਿਂ ਉਠਨਿ ਕਿਸੂ ਮਨ ਭਾਵੈ ।

nahin utthan kisoo man bhaavai

Everyone is utterly captivated; no one has the desire to rise.

ਸੁਖ ਪਾਇ ਭਨੈਂ ਬਚ ਐਸੇ ।

sukh paae bhanain bach aise

ਅਸ ਉਤਸਵ ਕਿਤਹੁੰ ਨ ਕੈਸੇ ॥੨੮॥

as utasav kitahun na kaise ||28||

Experiencing such satisfaction, they exclaim, "I've never witnessed a celebration quite like this. ||28||

ਉਰ ਬਿਸਰ੍ਯੋ ਦੇਸ਼ ਰੁ ਕਾਲਾ ।

aur bisarayo desh ru kaalaa

ਅਸ ਆਨਂਦ ਭਯੋ ਬਿਸਾਲਾ ।

as aanand bhayo bisaalaa

In our hearts, we've truly lost track of place and time, given the immense joy we've experienced here."

ਤਬਿ ਨੀਠ ਨੀਠ ਲੇ ਪਾਨੀ ।

tab neetth neetth le paanee

ਸਭਿ ਕਰੇ ਪਖਾਰਨਿ ਪਾਨੀ ॥੨੯॥

sabh kare pakhaaran paanee ||29||

Then, gradually, water is brought forward, and everyone washes their hands and mouth. ||29||

ਪੁਨ ਦੀਨਿ ਗਿਲੌਰੀ ਖਾਨੇ ।

pun deen gilauaree khaane

ਮੁਖ ਰੰਗ ਸੁਰੰਗੀ ਬਾਨੇ ।

mukh rang surangee baane

They then distribute folded betel leaves to eat, and everyone's mouth turns red.

ਧਨ ਜਥਾ ਜੋਗ ਤਹਿਂ ਦੀਨਾ ।

dhan jathaa jog tahin deenaa

ਉਠਿ ਗਮਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਪ੍ਰਬੀਨਾ ॥੩੦॥

autth gamane guroo prabeenaa ||30||

After that, money is handed out appropriately, and the grand Guru gracefully rises. ||30||

ਦਿਜ ਅੱਗ੍ਰ ਆਇ ਤਬਿ ਭਾਖਾ ।

dij agr aae tab bhaakhaa

ਸਭਿ ਤ੍ਰੀਯਨਿ ਕੀ ਅਭਿਲਾਖਾ ।

sabh treeyan kee abhilaakhaa

A Brahmin approaches the Guru, conveying the wishes of all the women.

ਗੁਰ ਦੂਲਹੁ ਇਤ ਚਲਿ ਆਵੈਂ ।

gur doolahu it chal aavain

ਕੁਲ ਰੀਤੀ ਸ਼ਗਨ ਮਨਾਵੈਂ ॥੩੧॥

kul reetee shagan manaavain ||31||

They desire the Guru, as the groom, to come their way and accept the 'shagan', honouring the family tradition. ||31||

ਇਮ ਕਹਿ ਕਰਿ ਤਹਿਂ ਲੇ ਚਾਲਾ ।

eim keh kar tahin le chaalaa

ਜਹਿਂ ਮਿਲੀ ਏਕ ਥਲ ਬਾਲਾ ।

jahin milee ek thal baalaa

Upon saying this, the Guru heads in that direction where a group of women await.

ਹਸਿ ਗਏ ਅਨੰਦ ਬਿਲੰਦੈ ।

ਦ੍ਰਿਗ ਦਲ ਅਰਬਿੰਦ ਮਨਿੰਦੈ ॥੩੨॥

The Guru laughs and arrives with immense joy, his eyes reminiscent of lotus petals. ||32||

ਦੇਖਿ ਸਰੂਪ ਬਿਸ਼ੇਖ਼ ਹੀ ਦੂਲਹੁ ਆਨਂਦ ਤੇ ਬਤਰਾਵਤਿ ਹੈਂ ।

dekh saroop bishekh hee doolahu aanand te bataraavat hain

Observing the groom's extraordinary appearance, the women are engaged in joyful discussions:

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਅੰਗ ਪ੍ਰਲੰਬ ਭੁਜਾ ਅਰਬਿੰਦ ਬਿਲੋਚਨ ਭਾਵਤਿ ਹੈਂ ।

sundar ang pralanb bhujaa arabind bilochan bhaavat hain

"Such a beautiful form he has, with long arms, and eyes that are reminiscent of lotuses."

ਕੇਚਿਤ ਜਾਨਤਿ ਹੈਂ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਹੇਰਤਿ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾਵਤਿ ਹੈਂ ।

kechit jaanat hain gur pooran herat sees nivaavat hain

Some recognise him as the complete Guru, and bowing, they lower their heads in reverence.

ਹਾਸ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਕਰੈਂ ਇਕ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਭਰੀ ਬਲਿ ਜਾਵਤਿ ਹੈਂ ॥੩੩॥

haas bilaas prakaash karain ik prem bharee bal jaavat hain ||33||

Others laugh heartily, lighting up the surroundings, while some are filled with love, feeling a sense of sacrifice towards the Guru. ||33||

ਜਿਮ ਜੀਤਕੁਇਰ ਤਨ ਰੂਰਾ ।

jim jeetakueir tan rooraa

ਤਿਮ ਦੂਲਹੁ ਬਰ ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਾ ।

tim doolahu bar gur pooraa

[They exclaim]: "Just as beautiful as Jit Kaur is, so is the esteemed true Guru."

ਇਹ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਇਕ ਸਮ ਜੋਰੀ ।

eih sundar ik sam joree

ਮਿਲਿ ਜੀਵਹੁ ਬਰਖ ਕਰੋਰੀ ॥੩੪॥

mil jeevahu barakh karoree ||34||

[Followed by]: "Such a stunning pair they make; may they live for tens and millions of years! ||34||

ਬਡਭਾਗਨ ਹੁਇ ਗੁਰ ਦਾਸੀ ।

baddabhaagan hue gur daasee

ਫਲ ਭਯੋ ਤਪੇ ਤਪ ਰਾਸੀ ।

fal bhayo tape tap raasee

What immense fortune she possesses to be the Guru's servant. She reaps the benefits of her [many past life's] austerities and meditations.

ਜਿਮ ਚਿਤ੍ਰਾ ਸਾਰ ਸਮੇਤਾ ।

jim chitraa saar sametaa

ਦੁਤਿ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਚੰਦ ਸੁਧ ਹੇਤਾ ॥੩੫॥

dut brind chand sudh hetaa ||35||

Just as the beautiful Tara, [the Moon's wife], shines with the Moon, their love makes them appear stunningly radiant together. ||35||

ਘਨਸ਼ਾਮ ਸਾਥ ਸਤਿਭਾਮਾ ।

ghanashaam saath satibhaamaa

ਜਿਮ ਮਿਲੀ ਰਹਿਤ ਸੁਖ ਧਾਮਾ ।

jim milee rahit sukh dhaamaa

Just as Satyabhama is with Krishna, and they dwell in a home of happiness,

ਗੁਰ ਪੂਰਨ ਸੋਂ ਤਿਮ ਜੀਤੋ ।

gur pooran son tim jeeto

ਬਹੁ ਸ਼ੋਭਹਿ ਆਨੰਦ ਚੀਤੋ ॥੩੬॥

bahu shobheh aanand cheeto ||36||

Similarly, Jito is now with the perfect Guru; she appears truly radiant and feels immense joy in her heart. ||36||

ਜਿਮ ਰਾਮਚੰਦ ਅਰੁ ਸੀਤਾ ।

jim raamachand ar seetaa

ਨਿਜ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਨਿਬਾਹਨ ਕੀਤਾ ।

nij prem nibaahan keetaa

Just as Sita is with Ramchandra, and she remains true to her love with him!"

ਚਖ ਚਪਲ ਚਾਰੁ ਸੀ ਚਾਰੂ ।

chakh chapal chaar see chaaroo

ਚਿਤਵੰਤਿ ਰੂਪ ਸੁ ਕੁਮਾਰੂ ॥੩੭॥

chitavant roop su kumaaroo ||37||

The beautiful women with their captivating eyes, are mesmerised by the form of the prince. ||37||

ਇਮ ਬੋਲਤਿ ਸ਼ਗੁਨ ਮਨਾਏ ।

eim bolat shagun manaae

ਗੁਰ ਕੋ ਪਿਖਿ ਅਨੰਦ ਉਪਾਏ ।

gur ko pikh anand upaae

They spoke [such beautiful] words, as they performed the shagan! As they witness the [glorious] Guru, they feel immense joy.

ਚਹੂੰ ਓਰ ਮਿਲੀ ਸਮੁਦਾਏ ।

chahoon or milee samudaae

ਲਖਿ ਮਹਿਂਮਾ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾਏ ॥੩੮॥

lakh mahinmaa sees nivaae ||38||

Women from all around gather together, and upon recognising the Guru's greatness and majesty, they bow their heads in reverence. ||38||

ਸਾਸ ਤਬੈ ਬਡਭਾਗ ਭਰੀ ਨਿਜ ਅੰਕ ਬਿਠਾਇ ਸਨੇਹ ਮਹਾਨਾ ।

saas tabai baddabhaag bharee nij ank bitthaae saneh mahaanaa

The well-fortunated mother-in-law, filled with joy, lovingly makes the Guru sit on her lap.

ਸੀਸ ਪੈ ਹਾਥ ਕੋ ਫੇਰਿ ਸਰਾਹਤਿ ਡੀਠ ਲਗੈ ਨਹਿਂ ਭੈ ਮਨ ਮਾਨਾ ।

sees pai haath ko fer saraahat ddeetth lagai nahin bhai man maanaa

She gently strokes his head with her hand, showering praises upon him. [Deep in her] heart, she holds a fear; hoping no evil gaze ever befalls the Guru.

ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਬਲਿਹਾਰੀਆਂ ਗਾਰੀਆਂ ਹਾਸ ਕਰੈਂ ਬਿਧਿ ਨਾਨਾ ।

saareean saareean hvai balihaareean gaareean haas karain bidh naanaa

All the friends/sister-in-laws are entirely devoted — a complete sacrifice — for the Guru, as they laugh and playfully tease Him in various delightful ways.

ਬੋਲਤਿ ਮਾਧੁਰ ਪ੍ਰੇਮ ਧਰੇ ਉਰ ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰ ਜੋਗ ਹੀ ਤਾਂਹਿ ਬਖਾਨਾ ॥੩੯॥

bolat maadhur prem dhare ur shree gur jog hee taanhi bakhaanaa ||39||

Speaking with a sweet tone filled with affection, Jeet Kaur recognises the Guru's eminence. ||39||

ਯੌ ਮਿਲਿ ਕੈ ਸਭਿ ਕੋ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਰੀਤਿ ਬਿਲਾਸਤਿ ਹਾਸ ਕਰੌਂ ਮਨ ਭਾਏ ।

yau mil kai sabh ko shubh reet bilaasat haas karauan man bhaae

In this manner, they all come together, celebrating traditions with laughter and taking immense delight.

ਜਾਨਿ ਸਮੈ ਨਿਕਸੇ ਤਬਿਹੂੰ ਜਨਵਾਸ ਬਿਖੈ ਕਲਗੀਧਰ ਆਏ ।

jaan samai nikase tabihoon janavaas bikhai kalageedhar aae

Recognising the right moment, the plume-wearing Guru departs for the groom's encampment.

ਬੈਠਿ ਸਿੰਘਾਸਨਿ ਪੀਠ ਸੁਹਾਵਤਿ ਆਵਤਿ ਭੇ ਸਭਿ ਸੀਸ ਨਿਵਾਏ ।

baitth singhaasan peetth suhaavat aavat bhe sabh sees nivaae

Settling against the throne, he looks radiant; all who arrive pay their respects by bowing their heads.

ਹ੍ਵੈ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਤਿ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਥਿਰੇ ਜਨੁ ਬੀਚ ਸੁ ਪੂਰਨ ਚੰਦ ਸੁਹਾਏ ॥੪੦॥

hvai parivaarat brind thire jan beech su pooran chand suhaae ||40||

Everyone gathers around the Guru; it's as if he is the luminous full moon, and the family members are stars twinkling around him. ||40||

ਸੰਗਤਿ ਬਿਨਤੀ ਦੀਨ ਹ੍ਵੈ ਕਰਿ ਕਰਿ ਜੋਰਤਿ ਹਾਥ ।

sangat binatee deen hvai kar kar jorat haath

The congregation humbly pleads, with hands clasped together.

ਰਾਖ੍ਯੋ ਸਿਵਰ ਉਤਾਰ ਤਹਿਂ ਅਧਿਕ ਪ੍ਰੀਤ ਕੇ ਸਾਥ ॥੪੧॥

raakhayo sivar utaar tahin adhik preet ke saath ||41||

With immense love, [they request], Guru Gobind Singh to remain in the encampment [of Guru Ka Lahore]. ||41||

ਕੇਤਿਕ ਬਾਸੁਰ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਕੀਨੋ ਸਿਵਰ ਮੁਕਾਮ ।

ketik baasur satiguroo keeno sivar mukaam

And so, the Satguru stays here for several days;

ਪਿਖਿ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੇ ਭਾਉ ਕੋ ਕਰਹਿ ਪੂਰਨੋ ਕਾਮ ॥੪੨॥

pikh sangat ke bhaau ko kareh poorano kaam ||42||

seeing the love of the congregation, They fulfils their wishes. ||42||

ਕੌਤਕ ਹੋਤਿ ਅਨੇਕ ਬਿਧਿ ਮੇਲਾ ਭਯੋ ਬਿਸ਼ਾਲ ।

kauatak hot anek bidh melaa bhayo bishaal

Numerous celebrations and events occur, resulting in a grand gathering.

ਧਨ ਖਾਟਹਿਂ ਨਿਜ ਲਾਭ ਕੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਪਿਖਹਿਂ ਨਿਹਾਲ ॥੪੩॥

dhan khaattahin nij laabh ko satigur pikhahin nihaal ||43||

Businesspeople and traders both earn wealth and, upon seeing the Satguru, feel overjoyed and blessed. ||43||
