In this manner, the wise and supreme Guru, Guru Gobind Singh,

ਬਲ ਜੁਤਿ ਵਧਹਿ ਸਰੀਰ ਬਡ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਨਰਨਿ ਕਲ੍ਯਾਨ ॥੧॥

bal jut vadheh sareer badd karahin naran kalayaan ||1||

grows in stature and strength, bringing salvation to many. ||1||

ਆਯੁਧ ਬਿੱਦ੍ਯਾ ਕਹੁ ਅੱਭ੍ਯਾਸਹਿਂ ।

aayudh bidayaa kahu abhayaasahin

[Every day, Guru Gobind Singh Ji] immerses in the practice of Shastar Vidya (art of weapons).

ਅਪਰ ਸਕਲ ਹੀ ਗੇਰਹਿਂ ਪਾਸਹਿ ।

apar sakal hee gerahin paasahi

All the other [warriors] fall short [in comparison].

ਵਹਿਰ ਜਾਇ ਧਰਿਵਾਇਂ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ।

vahir jaae dharivaaein nishaanaa

Outside, They set up targets,

ਕਰਹਿਂ ਚਲਾਵਨਿ ਧਨੁ ਤੇ ਬਾਨਾ ॥੨॥

karahin chalaavan dhan te baanaa ||2||

and start releasing arrows from their bows. ||2||

ਥਿਰ ਬੀਰਾਸਨ ਹੋਇ ਚਲਾਵਹਿਂ ।

thir beeraasan hoe chalaavahin

They fire arrows while positioned in the Bir Asan (warrior posture).

ਕਬਿ ਠਾਂਢੇ ਹਤਿ ਲੱਛ ਗਿਰਾਵਹਿਂ ।

kab tthaandte hat lachh giraavahin

And at times, knocking down targets while standing still.

ਕਬਹੁਂ ਕੁਵਾਦਾ ਐਂਚਨਿ ਕਰਹਿਂ ।

kabahun kuvaadaa ainchan karahin

Occasionally, They practice with the Kabaadah (a training bowstring without a bow),

ਜਿਮ ਭੁਜਦੰਡ ਅਧਿਕ ਬਲ ਧਰਹਿਂ ॥੩॥

jim bhujadandd adhik bal dharahin ||3||

which intensely [exercises] Their powerful arms. ||3||

ਸੁਨਹਿਂ ਪਿਤਾਮੇ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ।

sunahin pitaame kee vaddiaaee

They listen to the greatness of their Pitāmaha (Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji),

ਪਰੇ ਜੰਗ ਬਡ ਭਟ ਸਮੁਦਾਈ ।

pare jang badd bhatt samudaaee

who battled against formidable warriors.

ਦੀਹ ਕਠੋਰ ਸਰਾਸਨ ਧਾਰਹਿਂ ।

deeh katthor saraasan dhaarahin

[Guru Hargobind] wielded a highly advanced bow,

ਸ਼ੱਤ੍ਰੁ ਅਨੇਕਨਿ ਤੇ ਕਰਿ ਪਾਰਹਿਂ ॥੪॥

shatru anekan te kar paarahin ||4||

which pierced through numerous enemies [with its arrows]. ||4||

ਕੰਕ ਪੰਖ ਲਗਿ ਮੋਟਿਯ ਕਾਨਾ ।

kank pankh lag mottiy kaanaa

Arrows adorned with large, thick feathers,

ਖਪਰੇਮੁਖੀ ਬਡੇ ਕਰਿ ਬਾਨਾ ।

khaparemukhee badde kar baanaa

their heads were wide and robust.

ਜਿਨ ਕੇ ਆਗੇ ਅਰ੍ਯੋ ਨ ਕੋਈ ।

jin ke aage arayo na koee

Such [arrows] that no one dared to face.

ਕਈ ਬਾਰ ਬਡ ਸੰਘਰ ਹੋਈ ॥੫॥

kee baar badd sanghar hoee ||5||

Many times, huge battles ensued. ||5||

ਸੁਨਹਿਂ ਚੌਪ ਚਿਤ ਅਧਿਕ ਵਧਾਵਹਿ ।

sunahin chauap chit adhik vadhaavahi

Hearing [the tales of Their Pitama, Guru Hargobind Sahib, Guru Gobind Singh] cultivates immense enthusiasm in Their mind.

ਕਾਰੀਗਰਨਿ ਹਜ਼ੂਰ ਬੁਲਾਵਹਿਂ ।

kaareegaran hazoor bulaavahin

They invite the weapon craftsmen to Their presence.

ਦੇ ਦੇ ਸੀਖ ਘਰਾਵਹਿਂ ਖਪਰੇ ।

de de seekh gharaavahin khapare

They guide the blacksmiths on crafting arrows,

ਇਸੀ ਰੀਤਿ ਗਨ ਆਯੁਧ ਅਪਰੇ ॥੬॥

eisee reet gan aayudh apare ||6||

and in this manner, They amass numerous weapons. ||6||

ਸੇਲੇ ਸਾਂਗਨ ਭਾਲੇ ਭਲੇ ।

sele saangan bhaale bhale

Crafting high-quality spears, such as sāṅg-s (full metal shafted spears) and bhāla-s (javelins).

ਕਾਰੀਗਰ ਲੇ ਲੇ ਗਨ ਮਿਲੇ ।

kaareegar le le gan mile

Many blacksmiths gather, adding to the count.

ਹੇਰਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰਨ ਹਰਖਾਵੈ ।

her her shasatran harakhaavai

Seeing these [magnificent] weapons, Guru Gobind Singh Ji is thrilled,

ਬਖਸ਼ਸ਼ ਧਨ ਕੀ ਅਧਿਕ ਦਿਵਾਵੈਂ ॥੭॥

bakhashash dhan kee adhik divaavain ||7||

and generously bestows a wealth of money upon them. ||7||

ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਜਸੁ ਆਵਹਿਂ ਨਰ ਘਨੇ ।

sun sun jas aavahin nar ghane

Hearing the praises, numerous people arrive,

ਆਯੁਧ ਅਰਪਤਿ ਹੈਂ ਅਨਗਿਨੇ ।

aayudh arapat hain anagine

presenting countless weapons for the Guru.

ਬੀਰ ਸਮੀਪੀ ਬਖਸ਼ਨ ਕਰੈਂ ।

beer sameepee bakhashan karain

The Guru bestows these weapons to the warriors seated close to Him,

ਗਹੇ ਸੁ ਹਰਖ ਰਿਦੇ ਬਹੁ ਧਰੈਂ ॥੮॥

gahe su harakh ride bahu dharain ||8||

Accepting them, they feel immense joy in their hearts. ||8||

ਕਾਰੀਗਰਨਿ ਟਿਕਾਵਹਿਂ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦੇ ।

kaareegaran ttikaavahin brinde

Many craftsmen settle there,

ਘਰਹਿਂ ਅਨੇਕ ਬਿਧਾਨ ਬਿਲੰਦੇ ।

gharahin anek bidhaan bilande

manufacturing diverse and intricate weapons.

ਦਿਨਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਹੀ ਸਮਾਜ ਬਿਰਧਾਵਹਿਂ ।

dinaprat hee samaaj biradhaavahin

Each day, the community strengthens and grows,

ਰਾਖਹਿਂ ਚਾਕਰ ਜੇ ਢਿਗ ਆਵਹਿਂ ॥੯॥

raakhahin chaakar je dtig aavahin ||9||

and those seeking service and employment are retained. ||9||

ਕਿਤਿਕ ਦੇਗ ਤੇ ਅਚਹਿਂ ਅਹਾਰਾ ।

kitik deg te achahin ahaaraa

Some obtain food from the community kitchen,

ਕਿਤਿਕ ਰਸਤ ਲੇ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਗੁਜ਼ਾਰਾ ।

kitik rasat le karahin guzaaraa

while others live off their earned wages.

ਧਨ ਕੀ ਦੇਤਿ ਨੌਕਰੀ ਤਿਨੈ ।

dhan kee det nauakaree tinai

The Guru provides livelihood to the employees and servants,

ਜੇ ਨਿਤ ਰਹਿਤਿ ਬੀਰ ਰਸ ਸਨੈ ॥੧੦॥

je nit rahit beer ras sanai ||10||

who remain imbued in the warrior spirit throughout the day. ||10||

ਹਯਨਿ ਅਰੂਢਹਿਂ ਵਹਿਰ ਸਿਧਾਰਹਿਂ ।

hayan aroodtahin vahir sidhaarahin

Guru Gobind Singh mounts his horse and ventures outside,

ਬ੍ਰਿਤ ਅਖੇਰ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਮੁਦ ਧਾਰਹਿਂ ।

brit akher karahin mud dhaarahin

in utmost joy, embarking on a hunting expedition.

ਮ੍ਰਿਗਨ ਧਵਾਇ ਥਕਾਵਹਿਂ ਜਬੈ ।

mrigan dhavaae thakaavahin jabai

When the deer become exhausted from sprinting,

ਘੇਰਿ ਘੇਰਿ ਸਰ ਮਾਰਹਿਂ ਤਬੈ ॥੧੧॥

gher gher sar maarahin tabai ||11||

they surround and then kill them. ||11||

ਕੋ ਤੁਫੰਗ ਕੋ ਛੋਰਤਿ ਹਨੇ ।

ko tufang ko chhorat hane

Some of them employ guns,

ਸੀਖਹਿਂ ਸ਼ਸਤ੍ਰ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਨਿ ਘਨੇ ।

seekhahin shasatr prahaaran ghane

and rigorously train, honing their skills with weapons.

ਕੋ ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾਨ ਤੇ ਕਰਹਿ ਸੰਘਾਰਨ ।

ko kripaan te kareh sanghaaran

Some perfect their technique using the kirpan (sword),

ਕੋ ਤੋਮਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਇ ਪਰਹਾਰਨਿ ॥੧੨॥

ko tomar bhramaae parahaaran ||12||

while others wield spears for the hunt. ||12||

ਸ਼ਿਕਰੇ ਜੁਰਰੇ ਬਾਜ ਰੁ ਸ੍ਵਾਨ ।

shikare jurare baaj ru svaan

Shikara, Jurara, hawks, and hunting dogs,

ਇਨ ਤੇ ਕਰਹਿਂ ਅਖੇਰ ਮਹਾਨ ।

ein te karahin akher mahaan

with these, they engage in grand hunts.

ਹਯ ਅਰੂਢਿਬੇ ਬਿੱਦ੍ਯਾ ਫੇਰਨਿ ।

hay aroodtibe bidayaa feran

They master the art of horse maneuvering,

ਅਧਿਕ ਧਵਾਵਹਿਂ ਫਾਂਧਹਿਂ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨ ॥੧੩॥

adhik dhavaavahin faandhahin preran ||13||

galloping swiftly and leaping impressively. ||13||

ਛਾਲ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਅਲਪ ਕਰਿਵਾਵਹਿਂ ।

chhaal bisaal alap karivaavahin

Both large and small jumps are executed,

ਬਾਗਨ ਕੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਭ੍ਰਮਾਵਹਿਂ ।

baagan ke anusaar bhramaavahin

maneuvering around by adjusting the reins.

ਕਰਹਿਂ ਕੁੰਡਲਾਕਾਰ ਬਿਸਾਲੇ ।

karahin kunddalaakaar bisaale

They make wide, circular laps,

ਪਲਟਹਿਂ ਤੁਰਤ ਫੁਰਤ ਕਰ ਨਾਲੇ ॥੧੪॥

palattahin turat furat kar naale ||14||

quickly reversing and turning with swift hand movements. ||14||

ਪੁਨਹਿ ਅਟੇਰਨ ਕੀ ਬਿਧਿ ਪ੍ਰੇਰਨ ।

puneh atteran kee bidh preran

They make the horse move in the manner of an ਅਟੇਰਨ (atteran, a spinning device used for winding thread);

ਹੇਤੁ ਚਲਾਕੀ ਫਿਰ ਫਿਰ ਫੇਰਨਿ ।

het chalaakee fir fir feran

with great agility. They repeatedly make it turn and twist.

ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਬਹੁ ਬਿਲਾਸ ਗੁਰ ਕਰੈਂ ।

din prat bahu bilaas gur karain

Day by day, the Guru indulges in such delightful activities.

ਪਿਖਿ ਸਿਖ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਇਮ ਉਰ ਧਰੈਂ ॥੧੫॥

pikh sikh sangat im ur dharain ||15||

Seeing this, the congregation is overjoyed! ||15||

ਰੀਤਿ ਪਿਤਾਮੇ ਕੀ ਉਰਧਾਰੀ ।

reet pitaame kee uradhaaree

Upholding the traditions of his forefathers,

ਬਿਧਿ ਸੰਘਰ ਕੀ ਸਕਲ ਸੰਭਾਰੀ ।

bidh sanghar kee sakal sanbhaaree

[Guru Gobind Singh] meticulously maintains the techniques of warfare

ਇਹ ਘਾਲਹਿਂ ਸ਼ੱਤ੍ਰੁਨਿ ਘਮਸਾਨੇ ।

eih ghaalahin shatrun ghamasaane

that have defeated enemies in battle

ਆਯੁਧ ਬਿੱਦ੍ਯਾ ਮਹਿਂ ਸਵਧਾਨੇ ॥੧੬॥

aayudh bidayaa mahin savadhaane ||16||

and preserves the art of weaponry. ||16||

ਜਥਾ ਚਰਿੱਤ੍ਰ ਤਿਨਹੁਂ ਕੇ ਸੁਨੇ ।

jathaa charatr tinahun ke sune

Just as He has heard of these tales,

ਤਥਾ ਇਨਹੁਂ ਮੈਂ ਪਈਯਤਿ ਘਨੇ ।

tathaa inahun main peeyat ghane

Guru Sahib deeply immerses Himself in them.

ਕ੍ਰਾਂਤਿਮਾਨ ਬਡ ਰੂਪ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ਹਿ ।

kraantimaan badd roop prakaashahi

His radiant and grand form shines brilliantly,

ਹੁਇ ਪ੍ਰਸੰਨ ਬਖਸਤਿ ਸੁਖਰਾਸਹਿ ॥੧੭॥

hue prasan bakhasat sukharaasahi ||17||

and, He graciously showers joy and blessings upon others — being the Trove of Happiness. ||17||

ਜਿਨ ਕੀ ਰੀਝ ਖੀਝ ਬਿਨ ਮੇਘੂ ।

jin kee reejh kheejh bin meghoo

The graciousness and anger of the Guru do not go empty,

ਨਾਸਹਿਂ ਬਿਘਨ ਅਘਨ ਕੇ ਓਘੂ ।

naasahin bighan aghan ke oghoo

He destroys all their obstacles and faults.

ਆਇ ਦੂਰ ਤੇ ਦਰਸ਼ਨ ਕਰਹਿਂ ।

aae door te darashan karahin

Congregations come from far and wide for the Guru's darshan (divine glimpse).

ਪੁਨ ਘਰ ਬਿਖੈ ਪ੍ਯਾਨ ਨਿਤ ਧਰਹਿਂ ॥੧੮॥

pun ghar bikhai payaan nit dharahin ||18||

Every day, people visit and then return to their homes. ||18||

ਗੁਰ ਮੂਰਤ ਸੂਰਤ ਬਰ ਚਾਰੂ ।

gur moorat soorat bar chaaroo

The form of the Guru is truly stunning and beautiful,

ਬਰਨੌਂ ਮੈਂ ਅਬਿ ਤਿਸੀ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਰੂ ।

baranauan main ab tisee prakaaroo

Now, [allow] me to describe it in this manner:

ਜੇ ਸਿਖ ਸੁਨਿ ਸੁਨਿ ਕਰੈਂ ਧ੍ਯਾਨ ।

je sikh sun sun karain dhayaan

If a Sikh repeatedly listens and focuses,

ਚਾਰ ਪਦਾਰਥ ਪ੍ਰਾਪਤਿ ਪਾਨ ॥੧੯॥

chaar padaarath praapat paan ||19||

they will attain the Chaar Padaarath (the Four Treasures). ||19||

ਪਦ ਅਰਬਿੰਦੈ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਮਨਿੰਦੇ ।

pad arabindai mridul maninde

The Guru's feet are soft and delicate like lotuses.

ਅਰੁਣ ਬਰਣ ਤਿਨ ਚਰਣ ਮੁਕੰਦੇ ।

arun baran tin charan mukande

Their liberating feet possess a reddish hue.

ਜਿਨ ਸਿੱਖਨਿ ਕੇ ਮਨ ਅਨੁਰਾਗੇ ।

jin sikhan ke man anuraage

Those Sikhs, who harbour love in their hearts,

ਭਏ ਲਾਲ ਲਾਗੇ ਜੁਗ ਪਾਗੇ ॥੨੦॥

bhe laal laage jug paage ||20||

connect deeply with both of these lotus-like feet [and absorb] the redness. ||20||

ਨਖ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ਼ੋਭਤਿ ਇਮ ਖਰੇ ।

nakh sundar shobhat im khare

The Guru's nails gleam beautifully and stand out,

ਜਨੁ ਲਾਲੀ ਪਰ ਹੀਰੇ ਧਰੇ ।

jan laalee par heere dhare

it's as if diamonds are embedded upon rubies.

ਏਡੀ ਕੋਮਲੁ ਬ੍ਰਤਲਾਕਾਰ ।

eddee komal bratalaakaar

His feet are incredibly delicate, having a spherical shape,

ਜਨੁ ਫਲ ਕੋਹਰ ਲਾਲ ਉਦਾਰ ॥੨੧॥

jan fal kohar laal udaar ||21||

resembling the red hue of the ripe fruit of Kohar (a type of gourd). ||21||

ਤਰੁਵਾ ਬ੍ਰਿਛੇਤ ਊਰਧ ਐਸੇ ।

taruvaa brichhet aooradh aise

From His toes to the heel, the foot has a magnificent arch,

ਕਮਠ ਪੀਠ ਹੁਇ ਕੋਮਲ ਜੈਸੇ ।

kamatth peetth hue komal jaise

reminiscent of the curved shell of a turtle, [yet with a] delicate softness.

ਸੁਮਿਲਿ ਆਂਗੁਰੀ ਸੂਧੀ ਸੋਹੈਂ ।

sumil aanguree soodhee sohain

His toes align perfectly, appearing as straight as shoots of branches,

ਦੁਤਿ ਪੱਲਵ ਕੀ ਜਿਨੁ ਮਨ ਮੋਹੈ ॥੨੨॥

dut palav kee jin man mohai ||22||

possessing an elegance that captivates the mind. ||22||

ਸ਼ੁਭਤਿ ਪਗਨਿ ਪਰ ਗੁਲਫ ਉਚੇਰੇ ।

shubhat pagan par gulaf uchere

Atop the splendid feet were His pronounced ankles,

ਜਿਨ ਮੋ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਲੱਛਨ ਸਭਿ ਹੇਰੇ ।

jin mo shubh lachhan sabh here

which embodied every exemplary feature one would admire.

ਜੁਗਲ ਜੰਘ ਜਾਨੂ ਦਿਢ ਹੋਏ ।

jugal jangh jaanoo didt hoe

His two calves, so robust,

ਮਨਹੁਂ ਓਜ ਕੇ ਥੰਭ ਖਰੋਏ ॥੨੩॥

manahun oj ke thanbh kharoe ||23||

seemed like pillars of vigor, firmly rooted in strength. ||23||

ਉਦਰ ਸਤ੍ਰਿਵਲੀ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸੋਹਤਿ ।

audar satrivalee sundar sohat

Guru Gobind Singh Ji's abdomen is adorned with the "Trivali" (three beautiful creases),

ਨਾਭਿ ਗੰਭੀਰ ਦਿਪਤ ਚਿਤ ਮੋਹਿਤ ।

naabh ganbheer dipat chit mohit

with a deep and radiant navel that captivates the mind.

ਬਾਹੁ ਅਜਾਨੁ ਸੁ ਅਰਲਾ ਮਾਨੋ ।

baahu ajaan su aralaa maano

His arms, reaching down to his knees, resemble rounded logs,

ਸ਼ੁਭਤਿ ਕਰੀ ਕਰ ਬਲੀ ਮਹਾਨੋ ॥੨੪॥

shubhat karee kar balee mahaano ||24||

and his splendid hands are powerful like the mighty trunk of an elephant. ||24||

ਦਿਪਤ ਪ੍ਰਚੰਡ ਬਡੇ ਭੁਜਦੰਡੰ ।

dipat prachandd badde bhujadanddan

His radiant arms are massive and strong formidable staffs.

ਮਨਹੁਂ ਬੱਜ੍ਰ ਕੇ ਇਹ ਜੁਗ ਖੰਡੰ ।

manahun bajr ke ih jug khanddan

They are like twin pieces of "vajra" (the thunderbolt of Indra, known for its invincibility), each exuding unmatched power.

ਆਯੁਤ ਛਾਤੀ ਅਤਿਸ਼ੈ ਗਾਢੇ ।

aayut chhaatee atishai gaadte

The chest of Guru Gobind Singh is wide and exceptionally robust.

ਮਨਹੁਂ ਕਪਾਟ ਕਠਨ ਰਿਪੁ ਠਾਂਢੇ ॥੨੫॥

manahun kapaatt katthan rip tthaandte ||25||

It stands as a fortified gate, unwavering in the face of enemies. ||25||

ਤੁੰਗ ਸਿਕੰਧਨ ਤੇ ਜੁਗ ਛੈਲੰ ।

tung sikandhan te jug chhailan

His lofty shoulders stand stunningly, exuding grandeur.

ਜਿਮ ਕ੍ਰਿਖਚਰ ਸੂਨੋ ਬਡ ਬੈਲੰ ।

jim krikhachar soono badd bailan

They resemble the proud shoulders of a bull.*

ਮੁਕਤਾ ਮਾਲ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਉਜਾਲੀ ।

mukataa maal bisaal ujaalee

Around his neck gleams a magnificent pearl necklace.

ਗੋਲ ਮੋਲ ਬਡ ਕੇ ਦੁਤਿ ਸ਼ਾਲੀ ॥੨੬॥

gol mol badd ke dut shaalee ||26||

Each pearl, so perfectly round and large, dazzles brilliantly. ||26||

ਚਿਬਕ ਚਾਰੁ ਚਹੁਂ ਗਿਰਦ ਸੁਹਾਵਤਿ ।

chibak chaar chahun girad suhaavat

His charming chin radiates beauty from all sides.

ਫਲ ਰਸਾਲ ਨੂਤਨ ਜਨੁ ਭਾਵਤਿ ।

fal rasaal nootan jan bhaavat

It evokes the allure of a fresh, ripe mango that everyone finds delightful.

ਅਧਰ ਮ੍ਰਿਦੁਲ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਲਾਲ ਬਿਸਾਲਾ ।

adhar mridul shubh laal bisaalaa

His lips are delicate, and bear a rich red hue.

ਹੀਰਨਿ ਪੰਕਤਿ ਦੰਤ ਉਜਾਲਾ ॥੨੭॥

heeran pankat dant ujaalaa ||27||

His teeth shimmer, aligned like a row of brilliant diamonds. ||27||

ਮੁਸਕਾਵਤਿ ਦਿਖੀਅਤਿ ਦਮਕਾਵਤਿ ।

musakaavat dikheeat damakaavat

When Guru laughs, they sparkle radiantly,

ਸੰਪਟ ਬਿੱਦ੍ਰਮ ਕਲੀ ਲਖਾਵਤਿ ।

sanpatt bidram kalee lakhaavat

like a coral-wood box unveiling two rows of exquisite diamonds.

ਸੁੰਦਰ ਦੀਪਤ ਜੁਗਲ ਕਪੋਲੰ ।

sundar deepat jugal kapolan

His cheeks, both of them, are graceful and luminous.

ਮੁਕਰ ਮਾਰ ਕੇ ਮਨਹੁਂ ਅਮੋਲੰ ॥੨੮॥

mukar maar ke manahun amolan ||28||

They appear as the priceless mirrors of Kāmadeva, the deity of love. ||28||

ਤਿਨ ਪਰ ਕੁੰਡਲ ਡੋਲਤਿ ਝਲਕਤਿ ।

tin par kunddal ddolat jhalakat

The earrings sway and sparkle upon His ears,

ਰਤਨ ਜਵਾਹਰ ਤੇ ਬਰ ਡਲਕਤਿ ।

ratan javaahar te bar ddalakat

shining brightly like jewels and pearls.

ਮੁਖ ਮੰਡਲ ਜਨੁ ਚੰਦ ਅਖੰਡਤ ।

mukh manddal jan chand akhanddat

His face radiates like the full moon,

ਕਮਲ ਪ੍ਰਫੁੱਲ੍ਯਤ ਦੁਤਿ ਬਡ ਮੰਡਤਿ ॥੨੯॥

kamal prafalayat dut badd manddat ||29||

casting a luminous glow akin to a blooming lotus. ||29||

ਮਧੁਰ ਮਧੁਰ ਘਨ ਧੁਨਿ ਸ਼ੁਭ ਬਾਨੀ ।

madhur madhur ghan dhun shubh baanee

[Guru Gobind Singh Ji's] speech is reminiscent of the sweet sound of thunder,

ਨਿਜ ਦਾਸਨ ਕੋ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦਾਨੀ ।

nij daasan ko amrit daanee

bestowing His devoted servants with the nectar of immortality.

ਕੈ ਦੁੰਦਭਿ ਸੁਰ ਸ਼ਬਦ ਗੰਭੀਰ ।

kai dundabh sur shabad ganbheer

At times, His words resonate with the depth and tone of battle drums,

ਬੋਲਤਿ ਮਹਾਂ ਭਰੇ ਰਸ ਬੀਰ ॥੩੦॥

bolat mahaan bhare ras beer ||30||

spoken with profound valour, saturated in the heroic spirit. ||30||

ਕਮਲ ਪਾਂਖਰੀ ਚਾਰ ਸਰੀਖੀ ।

kamal paankharee chaar sareekhee

Their eyes, sharp and piercing, resemble the petals of a beautiful lotus,

ਆਂਖ ਬਡੀ ਜੁਗ ਤੀਖੀ ਤੀਖੀ ।

aankh baddee jug teekhee teekhee

both wide and strikingly stunning.

ਕਰੁਨਾ ਭਰੇ ਕਟਾਛ ਛਬੀਲੇ ।

karunaa bhare kattaachh chhabeele

Filled with compassion, [Guru Gobind Singh Ji's] gaze holds unparalleled grace,

ਪਲਟਤਿ ਮੀਨ ਮਨਹੁਂ ਦੁਤਿ ਲੀਲੇ ॥੩੧॥

palattat meen manahun dut leele ||31||

akin to fish playfully navigating through water, [reflecting a luminous allure]. ||31||

ਚਮਕਤਿ ਅਨੀਦਾਰ ਬਿਨ ਆਂਜੇ ।

chamakat aneedaar bin aanje

Their eyes, intensely radiant, shine without the need for surma (eyeliner),

ਜਨੁ ਕਟਾਰ ਕਾਰੀਗਰ ਮਾਂਜੇ ।

jan kattaar kaareegar maanje

akin to a bladesmith refining and polishing a katar [to accentuate its sharpness and brilliance].

ਜਗ ਮਹਿਂ ਨਰ ਨਾਰੀ ਅਸ ਕੋ ਹੈ ।

jag mahin nar naaree as ko hai

In the world, is there a man or woman

ਅਤਿ ਕਠੋਰ ਜਿਸ ਕੋ ਨਹਿਂ ਮੋਹੈਂ ॥੩੨॥

at katthor jis ko nahin mohain ||32||

so hardened and unaffected that they remain unmoved by such a sight? ||32||

ਮਨਹੁਂ ਨਿਪੁਨਤਾ ਬਿਧਿ ਉਪਜਾਈ ।

manahun nipunataa bidh upajaaee

It's like The Creator has crafted [Guru Gobind Singh Ji] with exceptional skill,

ਹੁਤੀ ਜਿਤਿਕ ਸਭਿ ਲਾਇ ਦਿਖਾਈ ।

hutee jitik sabh laae dikhaaee

employing every resource at Their disposal, truly showcasing Their artistry.

ਕ੍ਰਿਪਾ ਕਰਤਿ ਜਿਸ ਕੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਿ ਹੇਰਹਿਂ ।

kripaa karat jis kee dish herahin

When [Guru Gobind Singh Ji] casts a glance in someone's direction,

ਬਿਨ ਦਾਮਨ ਤਿਨ ਠਾਨਤਿ ਚੇਰਹਿਂ ॥੩੩॥

bin daaman tin tthaanat cherahin ||33||

without any price, He transforms them into His devoted servant. ||33||

ਅਤਿ ਸੁੰਦਰ ਸ਼ੋਭਤਿ ਗਰਬੀਲੇ ।

at sundar shobhat garabeele

[Guru Gobind Singh Ji] possesses an exceptionally radiant beauty, emanating with grandeur.

ਰਸ ਕੋ ਬਰਸਤਿ ਅਧਿਕ ਰਸੀਲੇ ।

ras ko barasat adhik raseele

A delightful essence seems to flow continuously from Him.

ਮਨਹੁਂ ਲਾਜ ਕੇ ਭਰੇ ਜਹਾਜਾ ।

manahun laaj ke bhare jahaajaa

His eyelashes resemble the allure of a laden ship,

ਚੰਚਲ ਮਹਾਂ ਦ੍ਰਿੰਗਚਲ ਸਾਜਾ ॥੩੪॥

chanchal mahaan dringachal saajaa ||34||

designed with captivating and flirtatious elegance. ||34||

ਭ੍ਰਿਕੁਟੀ ਕੁਟਿਲ ਕਮਾਨ ਸਮਾਨਾਂ ।

bhrikuttee kuttil kamaan samaanaan

[Guru Gobind Singh Ji's] eyebrows resemble a gracefully arched bow.

ਭਰ੍ਯੌ ਭਾਗ ਤੇ ਭਾਲ ਮਹਾਨਾ ।

bharayau bhaag te bhaal mahaanaa

and Their forehead indicates an illustrious destiny filled with blessings.

ਮੇਚਕ ਚਿੱਕ੍ਵਨ ਕੇਸ ਅਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ।

mechak chikvan kes ashesh

All Their uncut hair is dark and lustrous!

ਸਿਰ ਉਸ਼ਨੀਕ ਸੁਹਾਇ ਅਸ਼ੇਸ਼ ॥੩੫॥

sir ushaneek suhaae ashesh ||35||

Adorning Their head is a grand and elegant turban (dastaar). ||35||

ਕਲਗ਼ੀ ਜਿਗਾ ਜ਼ੇਬ ਜਿਨ ਜ਼ਾਹਰ ।

kalagee jigaa zeb jin zaahar

The beauty of the Kalgi (plume) and Jiga (tiara-like ornament) on [Guru Gobind Singh Ji's dastaar is] manifestly radiant.

ਜਬਰ ਹੋਤਿ ਜਗਮਗਤ ਜਵਾਹਰ ।

jabar hot jagamagat javaahar

Embedded diamonds and jewels within them glisten and sparkle brilliantly.

ਸਰਬ ਬਿਭੂਖਨ ਭੂਕਤਿ ਭਾਰੇ ।

sarab bibhookhan bhookat bhaare

The Guru adorns all kinds of ornaments,

ਲਾਗੇ ਮੋਲ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਸੁਧਾਰੇ ॥੩੬॥

laage mol bisaal sudhaare ||36||

of immense value and craftsmanship! ||36||

ਕੰਚਨ ਕੇ ਕੰਕਨ ਖਚਿ ਹੀਰੇ ।

kanchan ke kankan khach heere

[Guru Gobind Singh Ji's] gold bracelets are embedded with diamonds.

ਜਰੇ ਰੁਚਿਰ ਕਾਰੀਗਰ ਚੀਰੇ ।

jare ruchir kaareegar cheere

These gems are delicately and exquisitely cut by skilled jewelers.

ਨਵਰਤਨੇ ਇਸ ਭਾਂਤਿ ਸੁਹਾਏ ।

navaratane is bhaant suhaae

The nine gems adorning Him shine brilliantly,

ਨਵ ਗ੍ਰੈਹ ਮਨਹੁਂ ਭੁਜਾ ਲਪਟਾਏ ॥੩੭॥

nav graih manahun bhujaa lapattaae ||37||

it seems as though the nine celestial bodies embrace His arms. ||37||

ਬਰਣ ਬਰਣ ਬਰ ਬਸਤ੍ਰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ੰ ।

baran baran bar basatr hameshan

Each day, [Guru Sahib] adorns Themself in garments of varied colours,

ਪਹਿਰਤਿ ਰੀਤਿ ਨਵੀਨੀ ਬੇਸ਼ੰ ।

pahirat reet naveenee beshan

embracing the newest styles and fashion.

ਛਾਪ ਛਲਾਯਨ ਤੇ ਛਬਿ ਛਾਜਤਿ ।

chhaap chhalaayan te chhab chhaajat

His rings reflect a captivating allure and charm.

ਗਰ ਮਹਿਂ ਖੜਗ ਬਿਸਾਲ ਬਿਰਾਜਤਿ ॥੩੮॥

gar mahin kharrag bisaal biraajat ||38||

Around His waist, a majestic kharag (sword) prominently rests. ||38||

ਧਨੁ ਬਿੱਦ੍ਯਾ ਅੱਭ੍ਯਾਸ ਕਰਾਵੈਂ ।

dhan bidayaa abhayaas karaavain

He deeply practises archery,

ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਖਪਰੇ ਤੀਰ ਘਰਾਵੈਂ ।

keh keh khapare teer gharaavain

and instructs the blacksmiths to forge the finest arrowheads.

ਧਰਿ ਧਰਿ ਮਾਰਹਿਂ ਦੂਰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ।

dhar dhar maarahin door nishaanaa

Holding and nocking each arrow, He accurately strikes distant targets,

ਬਡੇ ਬੇਗ ਤੇ ਛੂਟਹਿਂ ਬਾਨਾ ॥੩੯॥

badde beg te chhoottahin baanaa ||39||

with incredible velocity, His arrows fly swiftly towards their mark. ||39||

ਚਾਂਪ ਕਠੋਰ ਕਹਤਿ ਬਨਿਵਾਵਹਿਂ ।

chaanp katthor kehat banivaavahin

The bow was crafted to be exceptionally stiff,

ਬਡ ਬਲ ਕਰਿ ਜੋ ਐਂਚ੍ਯੋ ਜਾਵਹਿ ।

badd bal kar jo ainchayo jaavahi

and could only be drawn back with immense strength.

ਸੰਬਤਿ ਏਕ ਬਿਤੇ ਪੁਨ ਕਹੈਂ ।

sanbat ek bite pun kahain

After a year of training with this type of bow, He would comment,

ਧਨੁ ਦੁਗਨੋ ਦਿਢ ਕਰ ਮਹਿਂ ਗਹੈਂ ॥੪੦॥

dhan dugano didt kar mahin gahain ||40||

“Craft an even stronger one, with double the stiffness.” ||40||

ਜੰਗੀ ਤੀਰ ਪੁਲਾਦੀ ਖਪਰੇ ।

jangee teer pulaadee khapare

Such jungi, war-ready arrows, crafted from robust Damascus steel,

ਕਹਿ ਕਹਿ ਬ੍ਰਿੰਦ ਕਰਾਵਹਿਂ ਅਪਰੇ ।

keh keh brind karaavahin apare

He would request more, and countless are forged upon His request.

ਹੇਰਿ ਹੇਰਿ ਤੀਖਨ ਬਡ ਤੀਰੰ ।

her her teekhan badd teeran

Observing these sharp and grand arrows,

ਸ਼੍ਰੀ ਗੋਵਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਗੁਨੀ ਗਹੀਰੰ ॥੪੧॥

shree govind singh gunee gaheeran ||41||

Guru Gobind Singh, of profound depth and virtue, comments: ||41||

ਤੁਰਕ ਸ਼ਤ੍ਰੁ ਗਨ ਅੰਗ ਮਝਾਰੀ ।

turak shatru gan ang majhaaree

“The Turks, [I yearn to] pierce their limbs;

ਮਮ ਕਰ ਤੇ ਪ੍ਰਵਿਸ਼ਹਿਂ ਕਿਸ ਵਾਰੀ ।

mam kar te pravishahin kis vaaree

O, when will the time come for Me to confront them?

ਕਬਹੁਂ ਜੰਗ ਮਹਿਂ ਬਨਹਿਂ ਨਿਸ਼ੰਗਾ ।

kabahun jang mahin banahin nishangaa

In the heat of battle, I will stand unwavering, with undaunted spirit.

ਕਰੋਂ ਪ੍ਰਹਾਰਨਿ ਖਰਨ ਖਤੰਗਾ ॥੪੨॥

karon prahaaran kharan khatangaa ||42||

I will release my arrows, piercing through [countless bodies]... ||42||

ਕਬਿ ਤੁਫੰਗ ਕੋ ਗਹੈਂ ਚਲਾਵੈਂ ।

kab tufang ko gahain chalaavain

..at some point, wielding my rifle,

ਮਾਰ ਲੱਛ ਕੋ ਤਰੈ ਗਿਰਾਵੈਂ ।

maar lachh ko tarai giraavain

I'll strike true and bring them down on the battlefield.”

ਇੱਤ੍ਯਾਦਿਕ ਆਯੁਧ ਅੱਭ੍ਯਾਸੀ ।

eitayaadik aayudh abhayaasee

Thus, the Guru immerses Himself in martial practice,

ਦਿਨ ਪ੍ਰਤਿ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕਰਤਿ ਬਿਲਾਸੀ ॥੪੩॥

din prat satigur karat bilaasee ||43||

Every day, the Satguru engages in such valiant pursuits. ||43||
